Highest Vertical Jumps - Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt ‘the stilt’ Chamberlain is considered as one of the most dominant players in NBA history. He holds various NBA records in rebounding, scoring, and durability. The only player to have scored 100 points in one NBA game, Chamberlain has won eleven rebounding, seven scoring, and nine field goal percentage titles. He is also the only player in the history of NBA to average 20 rebounds and 30 points per game in a season. He had a successful NBA career, having won two NBA championships, a Rookie of the Year Award, four Most Valuable Player Awards and chosen as one of the 50 Greatest Players in the NBA history.

With a height of 7’1”, Chamberlain is an all-around athlete and has won the highest vertical jumps for three consecutive years in the NCAA Big Eight Conference. He had a vertical leap of 50 inches and was physically capable of converting foul shots through slam dunk without a running start. You can find an old footage of Chamberlain’s jump on YouTube to see how he blocks a shot in a game with his hands reaching the top of the backboard.

Apart from these famous NBA players, there are a ton of athletes with incredible vertical leaps including Blake Griffin, Aaron Gordon, Julius Erving, Shannon Brown, Darrell Griffith and much more. We have listed the most popular players with great dunking abilities. However, if you want to know about technical details of the leaps, you can refer to the top jumpers list of NBA Draft Combine where you find Kenny Gregory and D.J. Stephens topping the list. Not all NBA players went to the combine but our list ranks some of the high flying NBA dunkers of all time.
